Hardwood flooring isn’t like anything else

It could be the amazing lifespan of hardwood floors that give it its amazing appeal. After all, homeowners are looking for a floor covering they can depend on, not just for the here and now, but for years to come as well. With proper care and maintenance, these floors can easily last 100 years, and possibly more. A peek inside any historical building can prove this fact is true.

Great durability and stability are common features of hardwood flooring. Especially when a dense, hard species such as Oak is chosen, these floors can last decades before needing to be refinished. It isn’t every day you get to choose the last floor covering you’ll ever have installed, so it might as well be something that really packs a punch in areas like these.

It’s important to remember that solid hardwood flooring can never be placed in spaces that are below grade. A basement is a perfect example of this. If you have a basement room that needs a floor covering, be sure to ask your flooring specialist about engineered wood flooring. It’s still considered real wood flooring, however, its actually a veneer of real wood manufactured between a beneficial backing material such as cork, and a find clear wear layer situated on top. These floors can last a long time as well, and can even be refinished a time or two before the need for replacement flooring arrives.
